Lifecore R900 rowing machine, with warranty!

posted 06/22/2008 at 6:35 pm in ,
I have a Lifecore R900 magnetic rowing machine - see http://lifecorefitness.com/products.asp?id=6 for details on it. $600.

I used it about 4 months. It has a new control panel. It comes with a chest belt heart rate monitor and the manual.

It has a warranty on parts, which is good till about Aug. 2010. Theres also a shorter warranty on labor, but that isnt particularly relevant since what they do is to replace parts by mail. I talked to the owner who said he would confirm the warranty in writing for a buyer.

The price is a firm price, the warranty is valuable. I bought it for $900 ($899 to be exact).

Pros and cons of this machine:

Cons:

- If you want a really intense aerobic workout emphasizing the quad muscles, an air or water resistance rower might be better. Magnetic rowing machines tend to give a less intense aerobic workout, but working out your upper body, glutes etc. more.

Pros:

- Very quiet. You could watch TV fine while rowing, or even listen to classical music. I dont think it would bother anyone even in an apartment with thin walls.

- It has a lot of nifty automatic resistance programs. It even has a heart rate feedback program, where it changes resistance to keep your heart rate in a certain range.

- Very smooth, pleasant motion. Important for rowing machines - if the workout is pleasant youre more likely to keep it up. The cheaper rowing machines are a rougher ride. Comfortable padded seat.

- If you want a rower for weight loss - long, less intense workouts - this one would work fine.

- Magnetic rowers are gentle on your joints. Lower impact than an air rowing machine. So if you have arthritis, say, this might be a good choice.

I have a rowing machine mat, which Id sell for $20. The mat is useful if youre using the rowing machine on slippery floors, it helps keep it from sliding around.

I would rather sell it locally. But I might be willing to ship it, doing payment through Paypal; or have it picked up, if paid at the door in cash (20s or 50s).
