APPLETON, SALLY (BADGER), 82, of Little Compton, August 11, 2008 in Hallworth House, Providence. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, she was a daughter of the late Erastus B. Badger and Alice Drumgould (MacShane) Badger both of Boston, Winchester and Osterville. Sallys Family owned E.B. Badger and Sons Company in Boston.



She was educated at Rosemary Hall-Choate School and later at Pine Manor College. Sally was the wife of the late Daniel Day Appleton and the prior wife of Marcus Munsill. A Past-President of the Colonial Dames of America in the State of Rhode Island from 1993 to 1995, her Propositus is Governor Thomas Dudley, MA. She was a past treasurer of the Junior League of Rhode Island, served on the Rhode Island School of Design Associates, and as a trustee for the Gordon School for many years. She was past president of the RI Ladies Golf Association, on the board of the US Senior Ladies Golf Association, and was a past member of Perennial Planters.



In addition to being an avid golfer, she enjoyed sailing and boating and skiing. She skied with her family at Cannon Mountain in Franconia, NH for forty years. Sally belonged to many clubs including the Agawam Hunt Club, the Ocean Reef Club and the Oyster Harbours Club.



Surviving sister: Mary Jane Badger Dempsey of California, daughter: Gail Borden M. Robinson of Little Compton, sons: Mark Mills Munsill and Carleton Brooks Munsill both of West Wardsboro, Vermont and the late Bradford Badger Munsill, grandchildren: Sayles Livingston, Hope Ryan, Sara Oliveira, Bradford Livingston, Chad Munsill, Oliver Munsill, Lilly Munsill and Elaina Munsill and nine great grandchildren: Willy, Ben, Eli, Sam, Henry, Toby, Buckley, Martha and Angus all of Little Compton.



A Celebration of Her Life will be held SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 28, 2008 at 12 noon in the United Congregational Church, The Commons, Little Compton, RI. Relatives and Friends invited. Memorial contributions may be made to The Garden of Hallworth House, 66 Benefit St. Providence, RI. Burial private. Arrangements in the care of Waring-Sullivan Homes of Memorial Tribute, Fall River, MA
