Anchorage resident Lana Jean Jarrard (Weeda), 62, died of natural causes Aug. 8, 2008, at home.
Visitation will be 12-12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Evergreen Memorial Chapel, 737 E St., with services afterward at 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 616 W. 10th Ave. The Rev. Ted McGovern will officiate. Burial will take place at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Angelus Memorial Park Cemetery.
Lana was born Jan. 12, 1946, in Anchorage, Territory of Alaska, and had lived here her whole life. She graduated from Anchorage High School in 1964.
Lana was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Pioneers of Alaska, Emblem Club and Womans Club. She enjoyed working and meeting her friends in her organizations, and had a lifelong passion for learning new things, reading and crocheting. She recently was learning to can, preserve and dry foods.
Her family wrote: Our mother will not only be missed by family and friends, but she had many adopted children and grandchildren. If anyone needed a helping hand, she was there, no matter how she felt. She will be so truly missed.
Survivors include her husband, Less LaCher; daughter, Yvonne LaCher; grandchildren, Casandra, Donavon, Samantha, Tottyanna, Heather and Darrell; four great-grandsons; and sons, Ernie and Johan Jarrard, all from Anchorage; brothers and sisters-in-law, Linn and Mary Weeda of Anchorage, and Lance and Cathryn Weeda of Bothell, Wash.; and three nephews and families.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Luther Oskey and Henrietta Hank Weeda.
