Funeral service for Rose Cook, 97, of Palm Coast, who passed away Saturday, August 16, 2008 will be 11:00 a.m. today (Monday) at Temple Israel in Daytona Beach. Rose was born March 26, 1911 in Boston MA. She had formerly worked for 20 years with the Department of Defense and most of her career was in Naval Air Supply. She was a member of Temple Israel and Pioneer Women. Rose enjoyed oil painting, crocheting and made kipots and head coverings for many of her friends. She was a cantorial soloist in the 1950s, during a time that women were not traditional in that role. She is survived by her son, Irving (Maxine) Cook; two daughters, Gerry (Jerry) Cooke and Deborah (Ron) Marlowe; a brother, Mayer Danton; five grandchildren, Sharon Cooke, Andy Cooke, Becky Cook, Jack (Sandy) Cook and Jeffrey Sacks. Memorial donations may be made to either Temple Israel, 1400 S. Peninsula Drive, Daytona Beach, FL 32118 or Jewish Federation, 470 Andalusia Ave., Ormond Beach, FL 32174. |
