ROSE T. BACHUREK (NEE VASILAK) WHITING, IN Rose T. Bachurek, (nee Vasilak), 95 of Whiting, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2008 at the Hammond-Whiting Care Center. She was the beloved wife of the late Stanley J. Bachurek who passed away July 31, 1983. She is survived by her children: Ronald (Dorothy) Buchurek, Philip (Renee) Bachurek and Laura (Dr. Roger) Allen; nine grandchildren: Sherri Fusak, Lisa Kasper, Lori Sommers, Ronald Bachurek, Jr., Brian Bachurek, Philip Bachurek, Jr., Jenny (fianc�e, Dr. Jason Mance) Bachurek, Karen Forte and Karly (Ike) Gibbs; great grandmother of seven; former daughter-in-law and friend Christine Bachurek. She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 21, 2008, 9:30 a.m. at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th St., Whiting. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church, Whiting with the Rev. Stanley J. Dominik, officiating. Interment at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville. Visitation at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Rose Bachurek was born on September 4, 1912 in Whiting, Indiana to John and Teresa (Kracik) Vasilak and was a lifelong resident. She was a graduate of Whiting High School, Class of 1930. She was an outstanding and very active member of the Immaculate Conception Church, Whiting. She had a beautiful singing voice and took part in numerous Slovak Vaudevilles as well as being a dedicated member of the Immaculate Conception Choir. She was a member of the St. Anne Sodality (prayers, Wednesday at 4:00pm), the Immaculate Conception Rosary Society, the Daughters of Isabella, the Slovak Catholic Sokol, Wreath 81 and the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association, Br. 452. She was also an avid Chicago White Sox fan. In lieu of flowers, memorial to the Immaculate Conception Church, Whiting, would be appreciated. (219)659-4400. |
