This TD has a potent little engine, with 1250-cubic-centimeters (1¼ liters or 76.3 cubic inches) piston displacement. The engine is an overhead-valve four, with a comparatively long stroke from which, in part, it derives more flexibility in performance, with less gear changing, than might be expected. According to the numbers on the engine tag and the firewall, the engine is from an early TD and not original to this car. This engine develops 54 horsepower at 5200 RPM. It is backed up by a very smooth four-speed transmission. The rear axle ratio is 5.125 to 1. The top speed is just under 80 miles per hour, so she is just fine at cruising speeds on the highway. The car tracks straight and as you can tell from the videos in the other section, she shifts smoothly and clutch pickup is excellent.


This TD’s brakes are powerful and reliable in action. The front brakes are of the hydraulic two-piston type; the rear brakes are the conventional hydraulic type. The rack-and-pinion steering is precise, and very responsive. The tires are new, and period correct.


The body and paint are in great shape. All of the chrome is very presentable. The car’s frame rails and wood floor are in great shape as well, and all of the lights work correctly too.
